Murphy Earns First Career OAC Track Athlete of the Week Honor

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - For the first time in her career, Baldwin Wallace University freshman distance runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week.

Murphy got her collegiate career off to an impressive start at the Joe Banks Invitational, helping the Yellow Jackets to a third-place finish overall. The freshman swept both of her individual events, kicking off the afternoon with a win in the 1-mile run in a time of 5:09.93. Murphy then followed it up with another win, this time in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:22.60. She also was a member of the 4x400-meter relay team that placed second in a time of 4:32.96. Both of Murphy's individual event winning times currently rank second in NCAA Division III in their respective events.

The Yellow Jackets return to the track on Sunday, February 7, when BW hosts Capital University and Otterbein University for its first home meet of the season on the Harrison Dillard Track inside the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse. Field events begin at 11 a.m. while the running events will begin at approximately 12 p.m.
