BW Women’s Tennis Team Beats Marietta, 7-2

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team defeated Ohio Athletic Conference rival Marietta College, 7-2, today in the Lou Higgins Center. The match was moved indoors due to inclement weather conditions outside.
 
With its win, BW is 6-8 overall and 2-0 in the OAC and has won two straight matches. The Yellow Jackets, led 3-0 after doubles play as the number-one tandem senior Morgan Baker (Vermilion / Elyria Catholic) and sophomore Kelsey Blatt (Tallmadge) won by a score of 8-4 and improved to 7-11 this season. The No.2 doubles duo of sophomores Mackenzi Baker (Vermilion / Elyria Catholic) and Mackenzie Donaldson (Hilliard / Davidson) won, 8-4, to improve to 4-3 overall. In third doubles, freshman Claire Watts and senior Whitney Yoder (Medina) won, 8-2, to improve to 5-3 overall.
In singles action, Blatt won at No.1 with scores of 6-0 and 6-0 and is 5-13 overall this season. Morgan Baker won at No.2 by a 6-3 and 6-1 count and improved to 3-13 overall. At third singles, Watts won, 6-2 and 6-3 and is 8-11 overall. At fifth singles, Yoder won, 6-1 and 6-1 and improved to 5-6 overall.
The Yellow Jacket women are back in action on Wednesday, April 2 when they travel to Tiffin, Ohio to play Heidelberg University at 3:30 p.m. The next home match is Wednesday, April 9 versus OAC and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University at the "Pop" Collins Tennis Complex at 3:30 p.m.
