HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team defeated NCAA Division II Fairmont State (W.Va.) University, 8-1, today in the fifth of six matches on its annual Spring Break Trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina. Earlier this morning, the Yellow Jackets lost, 5-4, to Div. II Spring Arbor (Mich.) College.

The Yellow Jackets, now 4-6 overall, led 3-0 after doubles play as the number one tandem of senior Morgan Baker (Vermilion/ Elyria Catholic) and sophomore Kelsey Blatt (Tallmadge) won by the score of 8-0. No. 2 duo of sophomore Mackenzi Baker (Vermilion/ Elyria Catholic) and sophomore Mackenzie Donalson (Hilliard/ Davidson) won by an 8-1 count. The No.3 tandem of freshman Claire Watts (Medina and senior Whitney Yoder (Medina) won by default.

In singles action, Watts won at No.1 by the scores of 6-1 and 6-3. Freshman Anatasia Koval (Seven Hills/ Normandy) won at No.2 by the scores of 6-3, 1-6 and 10-3. Senior Liz Keller (Cincinnati/ Walnut Hills) won at No.4 by a 6-1 and 6-0 count. Sophomore Hayley Peterson (Tulsa, Okla.) won at No.5 by the scores of 6-3 and 6-0. Sophomore Mackenzi Baker (Elyria/ Catholic) won by default at No.6.

The Yellow Jackets end their spring schedule in Hilton Head tomorrow, Wednesday, March 12 when they play Division III Lake Forest (Ill.) College at 6:00 p.m.

BW opens Ohio Athletic Conference play on Saturday, March 22 at Capital University at 1:00 p.m. The Yellow Jackets play their first home match on Saturday, March 29 when it hosts OAC-rival Marietta College at the "Pop" Collins Courts in Berea at 1:00 p.m.
