BEREA, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team opened its 2021 spring season as it fell to Ohio Northern University in an Ohio Athletic Conference game by a final score of 1-0 on the Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium.

The first half was a defensive struggle until late. Ohio Northern (2-0, 2-0 OAC) opened the scoring when senior midfielder Siena Ward found the back of the net at the 35:46 mark.

There were minimal scoring opportunities for both teams in the second half. The weather also presented problems for the offense. The light rain and heavy winds made it hard for the attack to get anything going.

In net for the BW (0-1, 0-1 OAC), junior netminder Lyndsey Valentine (Springboro) took the loss as she allowed one goal on 15 shots with seven saves.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Sunday, March 21 when they travel to Westerville for an OAC match against Otterbein University in Memorial Stadium at 2 p.m.
