Women’s Soccer defeats Muskingum University in OAC Match

New Concord, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace women's soccer team defeated Muskingum University in an Ohio Athletic Conference game by a final score of 1-0 at the Muskingum North Turf Field.

The Yellow Jackets (2-2, 2-2 OAC) were led by junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC midfielder Maddie Farrell (Macomb, Mich./Dakota) with the only goal of the match.

The Yellow Jackets opened up their offensive attack early in the first half with a shot from senior midfielder Kenna Stones (Dresden/Tri-Valley), which was saved. Muskingum (0-5, 0-5 OAC) began their offense with a shot at the 7:49 mark. BW continued to make attempts on goal but did not find success. The first half ended 0-0, with the Yellow Jackets outshooting the Fighting Muskies 12-5.

BW's offense started off quick in the second half as well, with multiple goal attempts within the first five minutes. The Yellow Jackets finally found the back of the net when Farrell scored off an assist by senior academic All-OAC forward Kortney Marzenski (Parma/Valley Forge). BW had a total of 20 shots for the second half but finished the match at a final score of 1-0.

 In the goal for the Yellow Jackets was sophomore goalkeeper Maddie Hofmann (Olmsted Township/Olmsted Falls) who did not allow any goals on a total of five shots and zero on goal by Muskingum.

 BW is back in action on Thursday, April 1st when they travel to University Heights, Ohio for an OAC match against John Carroll University.
