Gunter Earns Second OAC Wrestler of the Week

BEREA, OHIO --  Baldwin Wallace University freshman 125-pounder Jesse Gunter (Akron/ Coventry) is this week's Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week.  It marks the second time this season that Gunter has won this award.

Gunter earned the honor as he had a 4-0 record, won the 125-pound title individually and was the Tony Wallace Co-Most Outstanding Wrestler at last Saturday's Rochester (N.Y.) Institute of Technology Tournament.

Gunter pinned Johnny Marquez (SUNY-Oswego) in 56 seconds in the first round, pinned Zachary Aaj (Oneonta State) in 6:34 in the second round, beat No.4-seed Alex Stewart (Norwich) by a 6-1 decision in the third round and pinned Michael Buckiso of cross-town rival John Carroll University in the finals in 1:37.  With his 4-0 mark, Gunter is now 12-1 this season.

Earlier this season, on November 12, Gunter was named as the OAC Wrestler of the Week following his first-ever collegiate title when he fashioned a 4-0 record at the Nov. 10 Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College Tournament.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action this Saturday, December 8 when they travel to Cleveland for a dual match against cross-town and non-league rival Case Western Reserve University at 1:00 p.m..
