BW Wins Overtime Thriller Against Emmanuel (Mass.) to End Puerto Rico Invitational

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – The Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball won an overtime thriller by a final score of 54-53 against Emmanuel (Mass.) College in the second and final game of the Puerto Rico Invitational at the University of Puerto Rico-Bayamon.

BW (8-3) was led by senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference guard/forward Audrey Smolik with a game-high 20 points.   Smolik has led the team in scoring in five of 11 games, including the last four consecutive games.  Senior guard Shari Mangas (Leipsic) had eight points while sophomore forward Clara Lemmon (Louisville) grabbed a game-high tying 10 rebounds.

Emmanuel (5-7) was led by Sarah Higgins with a double-double as she scored 17 points and grabbed a game-high tying 10 rebounds.  Vanessa Bramante chipped in with 15 points.
 
The Yellow Jackets led 24-22 at the intermission but were outscored by the Saints 26-24 in the second half to force the extra session.   BW had a 6-5 advantage in the extra period but the game was decided in the final 13 seconds of overtime.  Sophomore point guard Mackenzie Colombo (Strasburg) stepped to the foul line with BW trailing by one point and she proceeded to knock down both from the charity stripe to give the Yellow Jackets the one point victory.
