BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's cross country team announced its team awards at its season ending banquet in the Student Activity Center on campus.
Sixth-year head coach Joe Eby recognized 15 participating student-athletes for their efforts during the 2019 campaign, while three runners were honored with varsity awards for their performances.
The three top honorees were senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC runner Isaac Wilson (Tylersburg, Pa./North Clarion), sophomore Academic All-OAC performer David Prather (Hardin, Mont.), and junior Andrew Krupp (Ottawa Hills).
Wilson was named the team's Most Valuable Player Award recipient for the second consecutive season. He is a three-time Academic All-OAC selection and All-OAC second team selection. The four-year letterwinner spearheaded the BW runners in five races this season, also placing 38th at the All-Ohio Division III Championships, 30th at the OAC Championships, and 72nd at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championships. He earned season-best times of 25:39.2 in the 8k and 21:46.3 in the 4-mile. The exercise science major is a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar, and carries a 3.67 grade point average as well.
Prather was named the team's Strength Training Award recipient. This season, he was named to the Academic All-OAC team and earned a varsity letter for the first time in his collegiate career. Prather placed 68th at the All-Ohio Division III Championships, 64th at the OAC Championships, and 134th at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championships in 2019, and also earned a career-best times of 26:27.6 in the 8k and 23:10.7 in the 4-mile. The neuroscience major is a Dean's List student and carries a 3.51 grade point average as well.
Krupp was named the team's Grindstone Award recipient for the second consecutive season. The three-year letterwinner was the Yellow Jackets' top finisher at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championships, placing in 67th with a career-best 8k time of 25:33.6. Krupp also earned All-Ohio honors (top-35) for the first time in his collegiate career, finishing 35th at the All-Ohio Division III Championships. The marketing major also ran to a 39th-place finish at the OAC Championships.
BW finished the 2019 campaign with an 18th-place finish at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championships.
