LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's cross country team competed in the Greater Louisville Classic, hosted by the University of Louisville (Ky.) in E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.
BW competed in the Silver Race and Blue Race, both of which featuring eight-kilometer racecourses. The Silver Race was comprised entirely of varsity NCAA Division III schools, whereas the Blue Race was considered an open of institutions ranging across all collegiate divisions.
In the Silver Race, the Yellow Jackets managed to place 22nd out of 40 teams, scoring 703 points. North Central (Ill.) College took home the team title with 85 points.
For the third race this season, senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection Isaac Wilson (Tylersburg, Pa./North Clarion) led the way for BW as he placed 108th, finishing in 26:12.7. Not too far behind was junior Spencer Roberts (West Seneca, N.Y./West) who finished 110th in a career-best 26:13.3. Juniors Jose Reynoso (Painesville/Harvey) and Andrew Krupp (Ottawa Hills) were next to cross the finish line, as they placed 144th and 151th, in 26:39.7 and 26:45.0, respectively. Reynoso's efforts earned him a career-best final time as well. Rounding out the top five runners for the Yellow Jackets with another career-best was sophomore David Prather (Hardin, Mont.) who placed 190th in 27:16.2.
In the Blue Race, BW's four participants resulted in their score not being included in the final standings. A team qualification for the final standings requires a minimum of five participants. Nevertheless, freshman Kyle White (Mount Gilead) was the top runner for the Yellow Jackets in the Blue Race, placing 345th in a career-best 28:32.4. North Central won the team title once again with a final score of 57 points.
BW will return to the racecourse on Saturday, October 19 when it travels to nearby Oberlin to compete in the Inter-Regional Rumble on the Oberlin College Cross Country Course.
