ACADEMIC MAJOR: Finance/ Exercise Science

BW ATHLETICS INFORMATION: Alex Kurtz played four seasons of football at Baldwin Wallace University (2013-2016). The quad-captain earned his third varsity and was a first-team All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection. 

CLYDE LAMB AWARD:  As a senior in 2016-2017, Alex was named as the Clyde Lamb Award winner, symbolic of BW's Most Outstanding Male Student-Athlete.

ACADEMIC HONORS:  Alex carries a 3.496 grade point average, is a Dean's List student and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society.

ALL-OAC:  As a senior in 2016-2017, Alex earned first-team All-OAC honors.

TEAM CAPTAIN -- Alex is a 2016 team quad captain.

CAREER SYNOPSIS:  Alex played four seasons of football and earned three varsity letters. He served as a team captain as a senior and helped BW to compile a four-year record of 21-19. The three-year starter started the final 34 games of his career and appeared in 35 overall. During his career, Alex helped the BW offense to average 30.2 points and more than 390 yards of total offense per game.

THROUGH-THE-YEARS:  As a freshman in 2013-2014, Alex played in his first season of football and split time between the varsity and junior varsity teams. He saw some varsity action at guard. Alex earned a certificate of participation. He ehlped the BW Offense average 30.5 points and 412 yards of total offense per game. BW finished 6-4 overall.

As a sophomore in 2014-2015, Alex played his second season of football and earned his first varsity letter. He rotated on the offensive line at guard and saw action on special teams. He played in all 10 games and helped BW to average 28.5 points and 355.1 yards of total offense per game. BW finished 5-5 overall.

As a junior in 2015-2016, Alex played his third season of football and earned his second varsity letter. He started all 10 games at guard on the offensive line and helped the Yellow Jackets average 31.5 points and 420.6 yards of total offense per game. BW finished 7-3 overall.

As a senior in 2016-2017, Alex played his fourth season of football and earned his third letter. He started on the offensive line all 10 games and helped BW to average 28.5 points and 351.2 yards of total offense per game. The team quad captain earned first-team All-OAC honors. BW finished 3-7 overall.

HOMETOWN & HIGH SCHOOL INFORMATION: Alex Kurtz grew up in Sterling, Ohio and graduated from Smithville High School.

Alex played four years of football and earned three varsity letters. He played four seasons of basketball and lettered once. He also ran track for two years and lettered once.

In football as a senior, Alex was a team co-captain and earned first-team All-Wayne County Athletic League and first-team All-District honors and was an All-Ohio Special Mention choice.

CAREER PATH/ HIS FIRST JOB OUT OF BW:   Alex accepted a position and starts work at The Westfield Insurance Company in May of 2017.
