Hamilton Named Football Defensive Player-of-the-Week

BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin-Wallace College senior defensive end Derron Hamilton (Euclid) has been selected as a Beyond Sports College Network (BSN) Defensive Player-of-the-Week for his performance during the Yellow Jackets 17-7 win against Marietta College  on Saturday, October 1, 2011.  He  was also tabbed as this weeks Ohio Athletic Conference Football Defensive Player-of-the-Week. The BSN award is a national honor given to only six defensive players in the country at the NCAA Division III level.

Hamilton had a team-high 11 tackles and 3.5 quarterback sacks as the B-W defense limited Marietta to 151 yards of total offense in a 17-7 win.  He had 4.5 total tackles for losses of 21 yards. 

Overall, Hamilton ranks among the OAC leaders as he is first in sacks (8.5) and tackles for loss (11 for 55 yards) and is tied for 27th in overall tackles with 24.  Hamilton is 4.5 sacks shy of B-W's school-record of 13. 

B-W is back in action on Saturday, October 8 when it travels to Westerville to take on the Cardinals of Otterbein University in an OAC game at 7:00 p.m. The next home game is on Saturday, October 15 when the Yellow Jackets host Ohio Northern University on the annual Homecoming Game at 2:00 p.m.  It will be the second of three home games televised by SportsTime Ohio.
