Dugan and Harmon Are Named OAC Football Players-of-the-Week

BEREA, OHIO – Baldwin-Wallace College senior 2-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference safety Ryan Dugan (Mentor) and sophomore punter Matt Harmon (Canfield) are this week's (Monday, October 17, 2011) OAC Defensive and Special Teams Player of the Week, respectively.

The duo earned their honor for their efforts in B-W's 20-6 Homecoming victory against Ohio Northern University last Saturday in Berea as the Yellow Jackets raised their records to 5-1 overall and 4-1 in the OAC.  The game also was telecast on SportsTime Ohio.

Dugan is the Defensive Player of the Week. He had a career-high 16 tackles, including seven solo stops, and one tackle for lost yardage as B-W held ONU to just 235 yards of total offense, forced two turnovers and sacked the Polar Bear quarterback four times. For the season, Dugan tops B-W in total tackles with 46, including 22 solo stops, and he is tied for second with two interceptions.  For his career, Dugan has appeared in 32 games with 175 tackles, including 93 solo stops, 1.5 QB sacks and 5.5 tackles for lost yardage. He also has 13 career interceptions to rank fifth all-time and 43 passes defended to rank third all-time.

Harmon is the Special Teams Player of the Week. He averaged a career-best 47.2 yards in four punting attempts against ONU, including a career-long 51-yarder that landed on the ONU 19-yard line.  This season, Harmon is averaging 38.6 yards per punt in 31 attempts, including an OAC-best 11 that have landed inside the opposition's 20-yard line. This is his first season as the starter.

The Yellow Jackets, who listed among the "others receiving votes" in both the www.d3football.com and www.afca.org national Division III polls, return to action this Saturday, October 22 when they travel to Wilmington, Ohio to play the Wilmington College Quakers at 1:30 p.m.  Fans can listen to the game either via campus radio station WBWC, 88.3 FM, and via the WBWC Internet Web site at www.wbwc.com.

Media and fans who wish to watch both Dugan's and Harmon's performances against ONU can log onto the B-W Athletics web site later this week as all games telecast on SportsTime Ohio are archived to the site at www.bw.edu/athletics/video/.  B-W has telecast more athletics events on major regional cable TV than any other Division III school.
