Dees ‘20 and McKeon Join Athletic Communications Staff

BEREA, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University Director of Athletic Communications Jeff Miller '96 has announced that Cannon Dees '20 and Alex McKeon will join the Office of Athletic Communications as Athletic Communications Assistants for the 2020-21 season.

Dees will serve as the primary contact for men's basketball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's soccer and men's and women's track and field. He will also assist with the other 13 varsity sports. 

Dees spent the past four years working as an Athletic Communications Student-Assistant, including serving as the crew chief for several sports and a sales representative with the Yellow Jacket advertising program.  Outside of athletic communications, he was an athletics event management intern, athletics event management coordinator and the associate editor and staff writer for the campus newspaper The Exponent for three years.  The Berea native earned a Bachelor of Arts in sport management and was a three-year letterwinner on the men's soccer team. Dees was three-time Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection. 

"I'm very excited for the opportunity to continue working at my alma mater," commented Dees. "For me, it has always been people that were a part of the school that made it so special, and now I am happy to be able to work alongside them professionally." 

McKeon will serve as the primary contact for baseball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's volleyball and women's basketball.  He will also assist with the other 18 varsity sports.

McKeon comes to Berea after spending the past year as an Athletic Communications Assistant at the University of Pennsylvania.  He was the Quakers primary contact for men's and women's fencing, men's and women's squash, men's tennis, softball and women's volleyball.  Prior to Penn, McKeon was the media relations coordinator for the Durham Bulls of the International League.  He also served as an intern with the Washington Football Team of the National Football League, Major League Lacrosse, Tri-City ValleyCats of the New York-Penn League and the Wilmington Blue Rocks of the Carolina League.   The Braintree, Massachusetts native earned a Bachelor of Science in sports leadership and Bachelor of Arts in journalism from Miami University of Ohio and a Masters' degree in sports administration from Xavier University.

"I couldn't be more excited for the opportunity to join the Baldwin Wallace family, stated McKeon.  "The chance to promote and work with this tremendous group of student-athletes is an opportunity that I don't take lightly. I am looking forward to contributing to the expansion of coverage for the Yellow Jackets."

Dees and McKeon, who are both active members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), will begin their duties on September 6.
