BEREA, Ohio - Baldwin Wallace University Sports and Media Information Director Jeff Miller '96 has announced that Louie Abounader will join the Office of Athletic Communications as an Athletic Communications Assistant for the 2019-20 season and will begin his duties on August 5.
Abounader will serve as the primary contact for the Yellow Jacket men's and women's cross country, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's track and field and women's basketball teams. He will also assist with the other 14 varsity sports.
The Montreal, Québec, Canada native comes to Berea after earning a Master of Science degree in sport administration at the University of Louisville. Abounader earned a Bachelor's degree in sport and fitness administration/management from Davenport (Mich.) University. He was a member of the hockey teams at both Louisville and Davenport.
"I'm very excited about the opportunity to work for Baldwin Wallace athletics," stated Abounader. "There is such a deep and rich history of successful athletic programs at this institution. I'm eager to meet and collaborate with our athletic department, administrators, student-athletes, and the entire BW community, in hopes of contributing to the Yellow Jackets' success in the future."
While at Louisville, Abounader served as an Athletic Communications Assistant for Spalding University, which is also in Louisville. His responsibilities included the utilization of stat tracking software, supervising and managing athletic events, graphic design and writing press releases and stories for the athletic department. Prior to his time at Spalding, he was an Athletic Department Student Assistant at Davenport and was an intern with the Worcester Bravehearts of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League of New England.
He is an active member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
