Volleyball Falls to Mount Union In OAC Match

BEREA, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball dropped an exciting four-set Ohio Athletic Conference match to the University of Mount Union in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.

BW (19-5, 2-2 OAC), who lost its first home match of the season, fell to Mount Union (14-7, 3-1 OAC) by scores of 20-25, 27-29, 25-17 and 23-25.

Freshman outside hitter Morgan Thomas (Northfield/Nordonia) sparked the offense with a team-high 11 kills.   Freshman utility player Jordan Diels (Paris/Minerva), freshmen middle hitter Lauren Gehring (Wadsworth/Norton) and freshman outside hitter Alicia Lortcher (Norwalk) all contributed nine kills.  The nine kills for Diels were a career-high.

Freshman setter Ashley Nuding (Perrysburg /Springfield) set up the offense with a match-high 39 assists.  Nuding added one service ace.

Freshman libero Brittany Miner (Canton/Massillon Perry) and Lortcher anchored the defense with a match-high tying 14 digs.   Gehring tallied a match-high five blocks.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, October 17 when they travel to Wilmington for an OAC match against Wilmington College in the Fred Razik Arena at 1 p.m.
