BEXLEY, Ohio – Sophomore utility player Ellen Hawkins (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) recorded a career and match-high 18 kills to lead the Baldwin Wallace University volleyball to a regular season finale four-set Ohio Athletic Conference victory against Capital University in the Capital Center.
BW (23-6, 6-2 OAC) will enter next week's OAC Tournament as the number three-seed and will host the sixth-seeded the Otterbein University at 7 p.m. Capital (6-23, 1-8 OAC) will miss postseason action and ends its season.
The Yellow Jackets defeated the Crusaders by a scores of 25-20, 20-25, 25-20 and 25-21.
In addition to Hawkins, freshmen outside hitters Alicia Thomas (Norwalk) and Morgan Thomas (Northfield/Nordonia) each contributed 11 kills to the BW offensive attack.
Freshman setter Ashley Nuding (Perrysburg /Springfield) set up the offense with a team-high 48 assists.
Freshman libero Brittany Miner (Canton/Massillon Perry) anchored the defense with a match-high 12 digs. Lortcher tallied 10 digs.
The OAC Tournament semifinals will be contested at the highest remaining seeds on Thursday, November 5 at 7 p.m. The OAC Championship is set for Saturday, November 7 at 2 p.m.
