Lortcher Garners First Career OAC Volleyball Weekly Accolade

BEREA, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University freshman outside hitter Alicia Lortcher (Norwalk) has been selected as the Ohio Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the first time in her career.

Lortcher led the Yellow Jackets to two key OAC victories last week with a straight set sweep of cross-town rival John Carroll University and a four-set win against Otterbein University.  She was responsible for 38 of the BW 110 kills as well as 28 of the 137 digs.

Lortcher 
had a match-high tying 12 kills against the Blue Streaks and closed out the week with a career-best tying and match-high 26 kills against the Cardinals.   She was second in digs on the team in both matches with 16 and 12, respectively. In addition, Lortcher had an outstanding 5.43 kills-per-set and hit an impressive .270 for the week.

This season, she has appeared in and started all 27 matches.   Lortcher leads the Yellow Jackets and is second in the OAC with 349 kills.  She leads the team and is tied for fifth in the OAC with 30 service aces.   In addition, Lortcher is second on the squad with 340 digs and is third in total blocks with 37.

BW is back in action on Tuesday, October 27 when it travels to Ada for an OAC clash against second-place Ohio Northern University in the ONU Sports Center at 7 p.m.   The Yellow Jackets close out the regular season on Saturday, October 31 when they travel to Bexley for an OAC match against Capital University in the Capital Center at 1 p.m.

The 2015 OAC Tournament begins on Tuesday, November 3 as the top four teams will host a quarterfinal match at 7 p.m.   The semifinal matches will be held at the highest remaining sees on Thursday, November 5 at 7 p.m.   The OAC Championship match will be contested at the highest remaining seed after the semifinals on Saturday, November 7 at 2 p.m.
