Nine Women's Track and Field Athletes Earn Academic All-OAC Honors

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio- Nine Baldwin Wallace University women's track and field student-athletes have been named to the 2018 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.

In order to be selected to the Academic All-OAC team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA.

Sophomore All-OAC distance runner Kelly Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit), junior jumper Abby Weagraff (Cochranton, Pa./Meadville), sophomore All-OAC thrower Brooke Buckhannon (Collins/Western Reserve), sophomore  All-OAC distance runner Katie Fowler (Mount Vernon), sophomore distance runner Hannah Allenson (Lakewood, junior jumper Jessica Edwards (North Versailles, Pa./East Allegheny), sophomore distance runner Bella Pendola (Warsaw/River View), sophomore distance runner Jordan Dascani (Toldeo/Springfield) and sophomore distance runner Hannah Nagy (Belmont/Linsly) are nine out of 41 spring student-athletes to be recognized.

Brennan, who garners her second consecutive Academic All-OAC selection, is an accounting and finance double major who carries a 3.96 GPA. She is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar, an Academic All-OAC selection in Cross Country and a member of the Alpha Lambda and Chi Sigma Alpha academic honoraries. The sophomore holds the school record for the 800-meter outdoor run with a time of 2:10.05 and was the 2018 OAC outdoor champion on the 4 x 800-meter relay team. She earned Outdoor All-Ohio honors in the 800-meter run (champion) and 1500-meter run (second). Brennan received United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Great Lakes Region honors indoors in the 5,000-meter run and was named Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week on January 22. As a freshman, she was named an USTFCCCA selection.

Weagraff, who earns her second straight Academic All-OAC selection, is a biology major who carries a 3.96 GPA. The sophomore is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of the Alpha Lambda and Chi Sigma Alpha academic honoraries, the BW Honors Program and the Pre-Medical Society. This season, Weagraff registered an indoor pole vault season-best mark of 8'7.5".

Buckhannon, who earns her first Academic All-OAC honor, is a public relations major who carries a 3.95 GPA. She is a Dean's List student and a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Society. This season, the sophomore earned outdoor All-Ohio honors in the hammer throw (second) and indoor All-Ohio Athletic conference honors in the shot put (first) and weight throw (second). She received USTFCCCA All-Great Lakes Region honors indoors in the shot put and was named Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week for April 9 and April 16.

Fowler, a Spanish and communications disorders double major, receives her first Academic All-OAC selection. The distance runner carries a 3.90 GPA, is a Dean's List student, is a Jacket Scholar, the Spanish Club President and a member of the BW Honors Program. This season, she recorded an indoor season-best and career-best time of 1:23.58 and ran a season-best and career-best time of 5:51.69 in the indoor 1-mile.

Allenson, who garners her first Academic All-OAC honor, is a psychology and public health double major who carries a 3.87 GPA. She is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society. This season, she ran an indoor 3,000-meter run season-best time of 12:41.90 and season-best time of 22:37.88 in the indoor 5,000-meter.

Edwards, who earns her second straight Academic All-OAC selection, is an exercise science and pre-physical therapy major who carries a 3.86 GPA. She is a Dean's List student, is a Jacket Scholar, a member of the Alpha Lambda and Chi Sigma Alpha academic honoraries and a member of the BW Honors Program and Exercise Science Club. She recorded a season-best and career-best indoor mark in the long jump (14'8.5") and triple jump (34'7") this season.

Pendola, who earns her first Academic All-OAC selection, is a neuroscience and psychology double major who carries a 3.66 grade point average. The distance runner is a Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar. This season, she earned outdoor All-Ohio honors in the 5000-meter run (third) and indoor All-Ohio honors with a first place finish in the 5,000-meter run. Pendola recorded season-best and career-best times in the indoor 3,000 meter run with a time of 10:30.41, indoor 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:09.69 and an indoor distance medley relay time of 12:57.94.

Dascani, a pre-physical therapy major, earns her first Academic All-OAC accolade. She carries a 3.62 GPA and is a Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar. This season, she recorded season-best and career-best times in the indoor 3,000-meter run with a 12:30.86 mark and in the 5,000-meter run with a 22:20.83 mark.

Nagy, who garners her first Academic All-OAC honor, is a biology major who carries a 3.59 GPA. She is a Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar. This season, she ran a season-best and career-best time of 12:23.65 in the indoor 3,000 meter run and a season-best and career-best time of 21:50.43 in the indoor 5,000-meter run.
