Women's Indoor Track and Field Places Third at Annual Mid-February Meet

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's indoor track and field teams finishes third in the annual Mid-February Meet on the Harrison Dillard Track inside the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse.

The Yellow Jacket women were third of 17 teams with 60 points and West Virginia Wesleyan College was the team champion with a total of 123.5 points. 

In the women's field events, freshman jumper Abby Lewicki (Medina/Highland) was the runner up in the pole vault, clearing a career-best height of 10'4.25". Freshman jumper Heather Orr (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) took fourth in the high jump with a mark of 4 feet, 11 inches and freshman thrower Carol Foster (Diamond/Southeast) took fifth in the weight throw with a career-best toss of 43'8", crushing her previous career best by over six feet. In her triple jump debut, Lewicki took sixth place with a mark of 32'4.75".

Freshmen distance runners Madison Kile (North Canton/Hoover) and Hastings Marek (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial) went first and second in the 1,000-meter run in season-best and career-best times of 3:12.75 and 3:13.05, respectively, while sophomore distance runner Katie Fowler (Mount Vernon) came in fourth in a career-best time of 3:15.63. Fowler was also the runner-up in the 500-meter run in a career-best time of 1:24.18. Sophomore distance runner Hannah Nagy (Belmont/Linsly) placed sixth in the 5,000-meter run in 21:50.43.

Out of 37 runners in the 200-meter dash, sophomore sprinter Beth Plas (LaGrange/Keystone) placed seventh in a time of 28.19 seconds.

BW will be back in action tomorrow, February 10, at the Division III All-Ohio Indoor Championships, hosted by Otterbein University inside the Clement Recreation Center.
