Women's Outdoor Track and Field Places Fifth at OAC Championships, Three Earn All-OAC Honors

ADA, Ohio --  The Baldwin Wallace University women's outdoor track and field teams finished in fifth place at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Ohio Northern University inside Kerscher Stadium.

The top three individuals and the top three relay teams are recognized as All-Ohio Athletic Conference.

BW was fourth of 10 teams with 89.5 points.   Ohio Northern won the championship for the second straight year with 166 points.  

The Yellow Jackets were led by sophomore All-OAC performer Kelly Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) and sophomore thrower Brooke Buckhannon (Collins/Western Reserve) as each claimed All-OAC honors on the final day.  Brennan was the runner-up in the 1,500-meter run in a career-best time of 4:37.02.  She also took sixth in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:11.12.  Buckhannon earned two All-OAC honors as he finished third in both the shot put and hammer throw with marks of 41 feet and 10.5 inches and 149'10", respectively.

In addition, senior Madeline Ziccardi (Cuyahoga Falls) finished fourth in the hammer throw with a mark of 145'7". Junior sprinter Grace Nemeth (Medina) took fourth in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes in career-best times of 12.46 and 25.96 seconds, respectively. Sophomore distance runner Bella Pendola (Warsaw/River View) placed fourth in the 5,000-meter run in a career-best time of 17:52.81.  Sophomore All-OAC thrower Jillian Roberts (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) finished fourth in the shot put with a mark of 40"8.25". Freshman jumper Stephanie Magvas (Westlake/Magnificat) was fifth in the high jump with a mark of 4'9.5".  Junior hurdler Carlynn Arthur (Danville) took sixth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:07.20.

In relay action the 4x100-meter unit of freshman Rebecca Penrose (Springfield/Shawnee), Nemeth, Arthur and freshman Ky'leana Allen (Columbus/Bishop Hartley) finished fifth in a time of 50.77.  The 4x400-meter quad of Brennan, Arthur, sophomore Katie Fowler (Mount Vernon) and Penrose took seventh in a time of 4:13.40.

BW is back in action on Friday, May 11 when it hosts the Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet inside George Finnie Stadium at 2 p.m.
