Petrella Garners Third Career OAC Men’s Wrestler of the Week Accolade

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University junior All-American 149-pound wrestler Michael Petrella (Reynoldsburg/Bishop Hartley) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Wrestler of the Week for the third time in his career.

Petrella earns his third weekly honor after winning the 149-pound title at the 59th North Central (Ill.) Invitational and leading the No. 6 nationally ranked Yellow Jackets to a fourth place finish.

He opened the tournament with a first round bye.  Petrella won a 15-5 major decision over Lucas Jagodzinske of Augsburg (Minn.) University, who is ranked 11th at 157 pounds.  He then posted back-to-back-pinfalls over Caleb Magruder of North Central in 3:42 and Kenny Siwicki of North Central in 1:30. Petrella claimed the title with an 18-9 technical fall over No. 9 nationally ranked Daniel Uribe of Wabash (Ind.) College.

This season, he is undefeated with a record of 11-0.  Petrella has recorded career-best tying five technical falls, three pins and two major decisions.

For his career, Petrella ranks tied for 25th on the University's all-time wins list with a record of 83-4.  He has tallied 30 pins, 13 technical falls and 12 major decisions.

BW is back in action on Saturday, December 16 when it travels to Hendersonville, Tennessee to compete in the Gator Boot Duals hosted by Luther (Iowa) College at Hendersonville High School.   Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
