Petrella Garners Fourth Career OAC Men’s Wrestler of the Week Honor

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University senior All-American 149-pound men's wrestler Michael Petrella (Reynoldsburg/Bishop Hartley) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Wrestler of the Week for the fourth time in his illustrious career.

Petrella earns the weekly honor after posting a perfect 5-0 record last weekend at the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) National duals.  The No. 1 nationally ranked wrestler at 149 pounds won his first match by pinfall in 4:19 over Chase Kmosena of Luther (Iowa) College.  Petrella then went up a weight class and defeated the No. 2 nationally ranked 157-pounder in Javen Estrada of North Central (Ill.) College by a 9-1 major decision.  He won his final match on Saturday with a 17-1 technical fall over Jashon Holmes of Castleton (Vt.) University. Petrella picked up two more wins on the final day as he won a 16-0 technical fall over Kevin Atchley of Dubuque (Iowa) College and a 16-1 technical fall over Michael Conklin of the College of New Jersey 

The defending 149-pound national champion is undefeated this season with a record of 20-0.  Petrella has tallied nine technical falls, six pinfalls and four major decisions.

For his career, Petrella ranks tied for 21st on the school's all-time wins list with a record of 90-4.  He has recorded 33 pinfalls, 17 technical falls and 14 major decisions.

BW is back in action on Saturday, January 13 when it travels to North Manchester, Indiana to compete in the Spartan Mat Classic hosted by Manchester University inside the Stauffer-Wolfe Arena at 9 a.m.
