Supers Garners First Career OAC Men’s Wrestler of the Week Accolade

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University freshman 165-pounder Andrew Supers (Medina) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Wrestler of the Week for the first time in his career.

Supers, who ranked 15th nationally and becomes the fifth BW wrestler to earn the honor, garners his first accolade after winning the 165-pound title and leading the No.5. nationally ranked Yellow Jackets to the team title by 40 points at the 37th John Summa Invitational last Saturday.  He was one of five BW champions and one of 18 Yellow Jackets to finish in the top eight.

Supers started off the invitational with a first round bye.  He then posted back-to-back pins over Mikey Syposs of Brockport (N.Y.) University in 3:46 and Declan Jewitt of Otterbein University in 2:14. Supers then won a 7-1 decision over Anthony Lahoski of Ohio Northern University.  He claimed the title with a 16-0 technical fall over Yellow Jacket teammate Hunter Kupniewski.

This season, Supers has a record of 25-6 with eight technical falls, five pins and two major decisions.  He was the 165-pound champion at the BW Invitational on November 18.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Tuesday, February 6 when they close out the home portion of their schedule when they host an Ohio Athletic Conference dual against Wilmington College in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center at 7 p.m.
