Thompson Wins Title to Lead Men's Swimming and Diving at OAC Championships

AKRON, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving teams set one Ohio Athletic Conference record, three individual champions and five school records  on the second day of competition of the OAC Championships hosted by John Carroll University in the Ocasek Natatorium on the campus of the University of Akron.

The Yellow Jackets won one individual championships, broke one OAC record, and set two school records. Tyler Thompson (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) set one OAC record, won one event, and set a school-record.

The Yellow Jackets were led by Thompson, junior All-OAC performer Jacob Burk (Bowling Green), and freshman diver Jon Levin (Olmsted Falls).

Thompson who set a BW and OAC record in the prelims with a time of 55.23 seconds. Thompson reestablished the BW and OAC records in the finals with a time of 54.68 seconds.  He currently holds the second fastest individual time in Division III.

Burk set a school-record and finished third in the 400-yard individual medley in a career-best time of 4:11.89.   

On the diving board, Levin placed third in the 1-meter dive with a career-best 333.25 points.

In addition to Thompson and Burk senior stroker Sean Rudolph, Jr. (Warrensville Heights) placed 14th in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 54.89.   Rudolph swam a career-best time of 54.67 in the prelims. Freshman freestyler Alex Morrow (Winchester, Va. / Millbrook) finished 12th in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 56.11.  Morrow swam a career-best time of 56.02 in the prelims. Freshman swimmer Tyler Allsion (Napoleon) finished 15th in the 100-yard backstroke in a career-best time of 57.55 seconds. Senior Nathan Onchuck (Darrien, Ill./Hinsdale South) placed 16th in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 59.26 seconds.  Onchuck swam a season-best time of 58.14 seconds in the prelims.
