Burk Wins Title to Lead Men's Swimming and Diving to Fifth Place at OAC Championships

AKRON, Ohio -- Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference performer Jacob Burk (Bowling Green) won one individual title to lead the Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team to a fifth place finish at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships hosted by John Carroll University in the Ocasek Natatorium on the campus of the University of Akron.

BW finished fifth of seven teams with 298 points. Ohio Northern University was the champion with 843 points.

Burk was the individual champion in the 1,650-yard freestylewith a season-best time of 16:38.81.

In addition, sophomore All-OAC performer Tyler Thompson (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) finished fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke in a school-record time of 2:08.25. Freshman freestyler Kevin Hartenstein (Hermitage, Pa. /Hickory) was seventh in the 1,650-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 17:23.29. Freshman freestyler Alexander Morrow (Winchester, Va. / Millbrook) finished 10th in the 200-yard backstroke in a career-best time of 2:01.01. Freshman freestyler James Philbrick (Mundelein, Ill.) placed 15th in the 200-yard backstroke and was 19th in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Philbrick had a time of 2:14.98 in the 200-backstroke and a career-best time of 19:07.39 in the 1,650-freestyle. He swam a career-best 200 backstroke time of 2:13.58 in the prelims.  Senior stroker Sean Rudolph, Jr. (Warrensville Heights) was 15th in the 200-yard butterfly in a career-best time of 2:09.99.  Junior freestyler Tyler Elgart (Shaker Heights) was 16th in the 200-yard breaststroke in a career-best time of 2:29.12.  Elgart swam a career-best time of 2:32.37 in the prelims.

The NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships will be contested on March 16-19 in Greensboro, North Carolina at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
