Men’s Swimming and Diving Splits at Hiram Tri-Meet

HIRAM, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's swimming and diving teams split a pair of non-conference dual meets as they defeated Hiram College, but lost to the College of Wooster in the Alumni Memorial Pool at Hiram College.

The Yellow Jacket men (2-3) defeated Hiram College (0-5) by a score of 155-77, but fell to the College of Wooster (4-1) by a margin of 174-85.

Leading the way for the Yellow Jacket men were sophomore All-OAC performer Tyler Thompson (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) and freshman diver Cameron O'Brien (Toledo).

Thompson notched three wins in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:11.39, the 200-yard breaststroke in a season-best time of 2:39.45 and the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:26.22. O'Brien finished first in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 185.95 and also placed second in the 1-meter dive with a score of 188.45.

In addition, freshman freestyler James Philbrick (Mundelein, Ill.) touched the wall in a time of 5:03.92 to finish second in the 400-yard freestyle.

In relay action, the 200-yard freestyle relay team of freshman freestyler Tyler Allison (Napoleon), freshman freestyler John Beyer (Columbus/Centennial), senior freestyler Henry Hammond (Cleveland Heights) and senior freestyler Nathan Onchuck (Darien, Ill. / Hinsdale South) picked up the victory in a time of 1:47:97. The 200-yard medley relay team of AllisonThompsonOnchuck and senior Sean Rudolph, Jr. (Warrensville Heights) hit the wall in a time of 1:55.92 to place second.

BW returns to action on Saturday, November 14 when they travel to Erie, Pennsylvania for a meet against Penn State –Behrend in the Junker Center at 1 p.m.
