Thompson Wins Three Events as Men's Swimming Falls at Case Western

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's and swimming and diving teams were defeated in a non-conference dual meet against Case Western Reserve University inside the Veale Natatorium.

The Yellow Jacket were defeated by a score of 194-88.

Sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference swimmer Tyler Thompson (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Hts.) swam well with victories in the 50-yard breaststroke in a time of 26.51 seconds and 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 58.89 seconds. BW finished first, second and third in the 100-yard individual medley Thompson in a time of 56.91 seconds, junior All-OAC swimmer Jacob Burk (Bowling Green) finished second in a season-best time of 1:00.44, and freshman swimmer John Beyer (Columbus/Centennial) finished third in a career-best time of 1:06.25. Burk also finished third in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:02.65.

On the diving board, freshman Jon Levin (Olmsted Falls) placed second in the one-meter dive with a career-best score of 175.05 and Da'qeayce Swain (Dayton / David H. Ponitz) finished third with a score of 121.10.

In relay action freshman Kevin Hartenstein (Hermitage, Pa. / Hickory), freshman James Philbrick (Mundelein, Ill.), senior Henry Hammond (Cleveland Heights), and Burk won the 200-yard freestyle relay in a season-best time of 1:40.89.

BW will compete in the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at Akron University inside the Ocasek Natatorium on February 18-20. Day-one will begin at 11 a.m. and continue at 6 p.m.
