Two School Records Set on Final Day of OAC Men's Swimming and Diving Championships

AKRON, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team set two school records and had two All-Ohio Athletic Conference performers on the final day as it finished sixth at the OAC Championships in the Ocasek Natatorium on the campus of the University of Akron.

BW men finished fifth of seven teams with 245 points and was led by freshman Tyler Thompson (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) and senior Bryan Gerber (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia) as each set the school-record in the 200-yard breaststroke.  Gerber broke his own record in the prelims and then Thompson reestablished the school-record in the final.

Thompson earned his second All-OAC honor as he placed third in the school-record time of 2:10.87.  He had the fourth fastest qualifying time in a time of 2:11.90. Gerber placed fourth in a time of 2:11.83   He had the second fastest qualifying time in a career-best time of 2:11.00.

In addition, sophomore All-OAC performer Jacob Burk (Bowling Green) placed third in the 1,650-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 16:50.87.   Burk, who was the 2014 OAC Champion, earned his first All-OAC honor of the championships and his third career All-OAC honor.
