BW Men Swim Team Defeat Hiram

BEREA, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming team defeated non-conference opponent Hiram College in the BW Natatorium in the Lou Higgins Center.  The BW men won, 114-86.  

The BW men were led by senior All-OAC swimmer Bryan Gerber (Sagamore Hills/ Nordonia), junior Academic All-OAC competitor Nathan Onchuck (Darien,Ill/ Hinsdale South) and freshman Tyler Thompson (Broadview Heights/ Brecksville-Broadview Heights) who all won twice individually and swam on the victorious 200 medley relay squad.  

Gerber won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:13.01) and the 200-yard free in 1:55.52, Onchuck won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:01.17 and the 50-yard free in 23.36 seconds. Thompson won the 200-yard individual medley relay in 2:12.54 and 100-yard breaststroke in 1:01.42. Joining the trio on the winning relay team in 1:47.33 was sophomore All-OAC swimmer Jacob Burk (Bowling Green).  

In addition to swimming on the winning relay squad, Burk won the 1000-yard freestyle in 10:39.08 and placed second in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:03.19. Also, sophomore Jesse Crowder (North Royalton) finished second in both the 1000 free in 11:02.84 and the 500 free in 5:25.25.  

The Yellow Jackets are idle next week and will return to action on December 5-7 when they travel to Fredonia, New York to compete at the Annual Fredonia State Blue Devil Invitational.  Prelims begin each day at 10 a.m. and finals take place at 4 p.m.
