BW Men's Swimmers Win Two at Bethany (W. Va.) Quad Meet

BETHANY, W. Va. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving teams won two of three dual meets at the Bethany (W. Va.) College non-conference quad meet in the Knight Natatorium.

The Yellow Jackets defeated Penn State-Altoona by a score of 109-69 and Defiance by a score of 133-15 but fell to Bethany by a score of 128-91.   The results versus Defiance did not count in Ohio Athletic Conference standings.  BW and Defiance will swim its OAC dual meet in January.

The Yellow Jackets had five individual winners and two-runner up finishes.  Freshman Tyler Thompson (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Hts.) led the way with two individual wins. Senior Bryan Gerber (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia), junior Justin Allison (Napoleon) and sophomore All-OAC swimmer Jacob Burk (Bowling Green) were all individual winners.

won the 200-yard individual medley relay in career-best time of 2:13.01 and the 100-yard breaststroke in a career-best time of 1:01.04.  Gerber won the 200-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 1:53.06, was second in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:04.53 and was third in the 500-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 5:19.19.  Allison won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 22.57 seconds.   Burk won the 1000-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 10:34.50, was second in the 500-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 5:11.05 and was third in the 100-yard backstroke in a season-best time of 1:04.41.

BW is back in action on Saturday, November 15 when it opens the home portion of their schedule The Yellow Jackets remain at home for dual meets with the University of Mount Union on Friday, November 21 at 6 p.m. and a Hiram College on Saturday, November 22 at 1 p.m.
