BW Men Swimmers Sixth after First Day OAC Swimming and Diving Championships

AKRON, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team stands in sixth place after the first day of competition at the three-day Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at the Ocasek Natatorium on the campus of the University of Akron.

BW is sixth of seven teams with 82 points.

Leading the way was junior freestyler Justin Allison (Napoleon) and sophomore All-OAC performer Jacob Burk (Bowling Green) each placed fifth in their respective events. 

Allison was fifth in the 50-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 21.68 seconds.  Burk placed seventh in the 500-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 4:49.58. 

In addition, the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 400-yard medley relay teams each placed sixth in season-best times.  The 200-freestyle team of Allison, Gerber, freshman Tyler Thompson (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) and junior Nathan Onchuck (Darien, Ill. / Hinsdale South) finished in a time of 1:27.78.   The 400-yard medley team of Onchuck, Thompson, junior Sean Rudolph, Jr. (Warrensville Heights) and Allison finished in a time of 3:37.34.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on, Friday, February 20 for the second day of competition. Preliminary events begin at 10 a.m. and the finals are slated for at 6 p.m.  The final day of competition is on Saturday, February 21 with the prelims at 10 a.m. and the finals at 5:30 p.m.
