BW Men's Swim Teams Drop OAC Dual Meet to John Carroll

BEREA, Ohio --  The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming team lost in dual meet competition to Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University in the BW Natatorium in the Lou Higgins Center.

The Yellow Jacket men (3-7, 0- 4 OAC) lost to the Blue Streaks (4-4, 2-2 OAC)

Leading the way for the men was junior Bryan Gerber (Sagamore Hills / Nordonia) and freshman Tyler Thompson (Broadview Heights / Brecksville-Broadview Hts) who both won an event. Gerberwon the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:16.03. He also placed second in the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 10:52.59, and the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:18.06. Thompson placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 59.89, and second in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 59.51.

Also swimming strongly for the Yellow Jackets were freshman Da'Qeayce Swain (Dayton / David H. Ponitz) who placed second in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:11.69, and junior Justin Allison (Napoleon) who finished second in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.33. 

The BW swimmers are back in action next Friday, January 30 when the team hosts Defiance College and NCAA Division II Ursuline College in the BW Natatorium at 6 p.m. The next day, Saturday, January 31, BW hosts cross-town rival Case Western Reserve University on Seniors' & Parents' Day at 1 p.m.
