BW Completed Weekend Invitational Meet at Fredonia (N.Y.)

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming team finished eighth at the annual Fredonia (N.Y.) University Blue Devil Invitational inside the Steele Hall Natatorium. The meet began on Friday, December 5 and concluded on Sunday, Dec.7.  

The men scored 239 points to place eighth out of eight teams.  

On the first day, the men were led by sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference distance freestyle specialist Jacob Burk (Bowling Green) who placed second in the 1650-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 17:04.17. In addition, junior All-OAC swimmer Justin Allison (Napoleon) was seventh in the 50-yard free in a season-best of 22.27.  

On the second day, the men were led by freshman Tyler Thompson (Broadview Heights/ Brecksville-Broadview Hts.) who placed third in the 100-yard breaststroke in a career-best 59.20 seconds and was a member of the fifth place 400-yard medley relay team in 3:48.03. Joining Thompson on the relay team were Burk, junior Nathan Onchuck (Darien, Ill./ Hinsdale South) and senior Brian Gerber (Sagamore Hills/ Nordonia).  

On the final day, the men were led by Gerber in the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:16.56 and was a member of the eighth place 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 3:42.31. Also swimming strongly for the Yellow Jackets was Burk in the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 4:26.81, he was a member of the 400-yard freestyle relay. Joining Burk and Gerber were junior Henry Hammond (Cleveland Heights) and sophomore Jesse Crowder (North Royalton).  

The Yellow Jacket swimmers and divers are idle until making their Annual Winter Break Trip to Sarasota, Florida for 10 days in early January for a Sarasota Quad Relay Meet.  Relays will begin at 4 p.m.
