BW Men’s Golf Team Places Third at Webber International in Florida

AVON PARK, Florida -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's golf team finished third at the 2016 spring season-opening tournament at the Webber International University River Greens Spring Classic at the River Greens Golf Course. This is the first of five spring tournaments for the Yellow Jackets.

The collegiate golf season is divided into a fall and spring schedule with the 2016 Ohio Athletic Conference and NCAA Division III Championships events contested during the spring season. In addition, five student-athletes competed as a team with the top four scores counting each day toward the team total.

BW placed third with a round of 329 on the par-72 and 6,400-yard River Greens G.C. layout.  A total of 11 Yellow Jackets competed.

The BW first unit (four of the top five count toward the team score) was led by junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference players Scott Schroeder (Aurora) and Matt Kershner (Independence) with rounds of 79. They were followed by freshman Hunter Miller (Frankfort/ Adena) with an 83, freshman Nick Infanti (Clarksburg, Md./ Clacksburg) with an 88 and senior Connor Duplin (North Canton/ St. Thomas Aquinas) had a 92.

The other six, who played as individuals, was led by freshman Jack Kyle (Bay Village/ Bay) who tied Schroeder and Kershner for team-low honors with a 79. He was followed by freshman Jason Garnet (North Royalton) and freshman Logan Dwelle (Sandusky/ Perkins) with rounds of 87, junior Weston Lucas (Columbia Station/ Christian Community School) and freshman Adam Morris (Grafton/ Midview) each carded rounds of 92 and freshman Brad Blaine (Brooklyn) had a 98.

The Yellow Jackets return to action on April 2-3 when BW travels to Harrod, Ohio to participate in the 2016 Ohio Northern University Polar Bear Spring Invitational Tournament at the Colonial Hills G.C.
