Men's Golf Team Wins Purple Raider Fall Invitational

ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's golf team captured the team championship at the University of Mount Union Purple Raider Invitational at the Tannenhauf Golf Course. In addition, junior number-one and All-Ohio Athletic Conference player Scott Schroeder (Aurora) earned medalist honors for the third time in his career and for the second time this fall.

BW placed first of six teams with a pair of rounds of 298 for a two-day total of 596 on the par-72 and 6,694-yard Tannenhauf G.C. layout. Host Mt. Union was second at 601, John Carroll University third at 603, The College of Wooster fourth at 606, Muskingum University fifth at 616 and Westminster (Pa.) University sixth at 628. 

Schroeder fired a pair of rounds of 71 for a 36-hole total of 142 strokes. It also marks the second time he has been a medalist this fall at a Mt. Union sponsored event as he earned medalist honors on Sept. 13-14 at the Raider Invitational at the Alliance Country Club.

Joining him on the five-player were junior All-OAC player Matt Kershner (Independence) with rounds of 76 and 75 for a 151-stroke total and freshman Drew Savage (Canal Fulton/Canton Central Catholic) with rounds of 77 and 74 for a 151 total, freshman Jason Garnet (North Royalton) with rounds of 74 and 78 for a 152 total and junior Weston Lucas (Columbia Station/ Christian Community School) with rounds of 79 and 78 for a 157 total.

Playing as individuals were freshman Logan Dwelle (Sandusky/Perkins) who had rounds of 74 and 73 for a 147-stroke total, senior Connor Duplin (North Canton/St. Thomas Aquinas) had rounds of 81 and 78 for a 159 total, freshman Hunter Miller (Frankfort/Dena) had rounds of 82 and 78 for a 160 total, freshman Brad Blaine (Brooklyn) had rounds of 86 and 77 for a 163 total, freshman Jack Kyle (Bay Village/Bay) had rounds of 83 and 86 for a 169 total  and freshman Adam Morris (Grafton/Midview) had rounds of 91 and 86 for a 177 total.

The Yellow Jackets close out the fall portion of their schedule when they are back in action on Saturday and Sunday, October 3-4 when they travel to Harrod to compete at the 2015 OAC Fall Invitational, hosted by Ohio Northern University at the Colonial Players Club.
