WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Baldwin Wallace University senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference catcher Trent Kaltenbach (Plain City/Jonathan Alder) delivered a two-run double to cap off a three-run ninth inning comeback to defeat No. 22 St. John Fisher (N.Y.) College at the Chain O' Lakes Park.

BW (5-0) defeated St. John Fisher (1-2), ranked 22nd in the latest d3baseball.com poll, by a final score of 6-5.

The Yellow Jackets held a 3-0 lead after four innings while junior right handed pitcher Danny Cody (Medina/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) was dealing from the mound. After Cody left the game, however, St. John Fisher plated five unanswered runs and held a 5-3 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth.

Junior first baseman Philip Wells (Buffalo, N.Y./St. Joseph's Collegiate) got things started with a single followed by a pinch-hit single from junior catcher Asa Adams (Sarver, Pa./Knoch). Senior outfielder Chase Knodle (Poland/Seminary) brought in the first run of the inning with a single to right field, bringing the Yellow Jackets within one run of the lead. After a couple of defensive substitutions by the Cardinals, Kaltenbach stepped to the plate and delivered Adams, Knodle and the game with a double to center field, capping off the three-run comeback.

At the plate, Knodle led the Yellow Jackets with a 3-for-4 day with two runs and two RBIs. Sophomore infielder Jacob Bonner (Akron/Archbishop Hoban) had a double and a solo home run and Wells also had two hits.

On the mound, Cody went four innings, allowing four hits and four walks with seven strikeouts. Junior left-handed pitcher Jack Raines (Akron/Archbishop Hoban) threw five innings in relief and also had seven punch outs, earning the win.

BW will be back in action on Sunday, March 4, in the Snowbird Classic with games against Babson (Mass.) College and Moravian (Pa.) College at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., respectively, at the South Charlotte Regional Park.
