Knodle Garners First OAC Hitter of the Week Honor

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University senior center fielder Chase Knodle (Poland/Seminary) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week for the first time in his career.

Knodle led BW to a 6-2 record down in Florida over spring break. He hit .500 with three doubles, one home run, nine runs batted in (RBI) and 12 runs scored. He was a key contributor in BW's two walk-off wins over No. 22 St. John Fisher (N.Y.) College and Bluffton University. In the 6-5 win over St. John Fisher, Knodle plated the Yellow Jackets' first run in the ninth inning, bringing the score to 5-4. In the wild 17-16 win over Bluffton, he hit his first collegiate home run and then backed things up in the ninth with the game-winning single.

This season, Knodle leads BW with a .447 batting average, third highest in the OAC. He also has a team-leading six doubles, is tied for second with 12 RBIs and second with eight stolen bases.

For his career, Knodle has appeared in 84 games and has a career batting average of .323, an on base percentage of .419 and a slugging percentage of .409. The center fielder has recorded 98 putouts and has only committed two errors in three seasons for a career fielding percentage of .981.

Knodle and the rest of the Yellow Jackets will be back in action with a non-conference doubleheader against Wittenberg University on Saturday, March 17, at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Fisher Field.
