Lovick Garners First Career OAC Pitcher-of-the-Week Honor

BEREA, OHIO --  Baldwin Wallace University sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference left-handed pitcher Evan Lovick (Mentor) is this week's OAC Pitcher-of-the-Week.  It is his first career OAC Player-of-the-Week award.

Lovick earned the honor as he did not allow an earned run in two outings last week that covering nine and two-third innings pitched. It including a 6-hit shutout in a 10-0 victory against first place Marietta College. Lovick struck out seven and did not walk a batter. He also threw two-thirds of an inning in another OAC contest.

This season, Lovick is 1-0 with two saves and a microscopic 0.77 earned run average in nine appearances and totaling 23 and one-third innings of action. He has allowed 19 hits, two runs (both earned), struck out 13 and walked just one opposing batter. Opponents are batting just .229 versus Lovick.

As a freshman in 2015, Lovick earned his first varsity letter. He earned honorable mention All-OAC honors and was a member of the starting rotation. He pitched in  10 games, including seven starts, and had a 5-1 record with a 3.74 earned run average (ERA) with 28 strikeouts in 43 and one-third innings pitched. Opponents batted .258 against him.

BW (9-15 overall, 3-3 OAC) is back in action on Wednesday, April 13 when the Yellow Jackets host OAC rival Heidelberg University for an OAC twinbill at Fisher Field. The first game starts at 1 p.m.
