BEREA, Ohio -- For the past five years, Baldwin Wallace University Head Baseball Coach Brian Harrison has transformed his Yellow Jacket program into one of the best in NCAA Division III.  Harrison's specialty is hitting and this weekend he is honored to speak at the January 7-10, 2016 ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association) National Convention in Nashville, Tennessee about his favorite subject.

Whether as a head coach, minor league baseball player or collegiate standout, Harrison has always mastered the art of hitting.  Each year since taking over the Yellow Jacket program, Harrison's teams have been among the top hitting teams in Division III.

"A lot of it has to do with both being a disciplined hitter, knowing the pitch count and situation and bat speed," said Harrison, who has fashioned a 132-75 record, including a school-record 31 victories and a 31-12 mark a year ago. "I learned a long time ago that if you can increase your bat speed, you can be a better hitter."

In addition to helping BW set a school-record for wins in a season in four of his five seasons in Berea, Harrison led the Yellow Jackets to their first-ever Division III College World Series appearance in 2014 and a return trip to the Div. III Regional tourney last season.

Prior to coaching at BW, Harrison, a native of Cleveland and a graduate of Lakewood St. Edward High School and Shawnee State University (Ohio), coached at Cuyahoga Community College (Parma, Ohio), Urbana (Ohio) University and was the hitting instructor at the University of Dayton. He has a career mark of 273-204.

The Yellow Jackets open the 2016 season on Saturday, February 20 versus Pitt-Bradford in Haymarket, Virginia.
