Women's Indoor Track and Field Competes at Raider Tune Up

ALLIANCE, Ohio – In the final meet before the Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, the Baldwin Wallace University women's indoor track and field team competed at the unscored Raider Tune Up, hosted by the University of Mount Union inside the Peterson Fieldhouse.

In distance, ophomore All-OAC distance runner Bella Pendola (Warsaw/River View) won the 1-mile run in a career-best 5:16.28 while freshman distance runners Hastings Marek (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial) and Madison Kile (North Canton/Hoover) also ran career-bests 5:25.18 and 5:32.61, respectively, to finish third and seventh, respectively. Freshman Rebecca Penrose (Springfield/Shawnee) won the 1,000-meter run in a career-best time of 3:11.65 and also took third in the 500-meter dash in a career-best 1:21.85. Freshman distance runner Molina Otte (Omaha, Neb./Millard West) was the runner-up in the 3,000-meter run in a career-best time of 11:12.62 while junior distance runner Hannah Fredriksen (Hamburg, N.Y.) was the runner-up in her first 5,000-meter run this season as she crossed the finish line in 19:50.34.

Running the first 4x200-meter relays of the season, the team of junior sprinter Grace Nemeth (Medina), freshman sprinter Ky'leana Allen (Columbus/Bishop Hartley), sophomore sprinter Beth Plas (Keystone/LaGrange) and senior sprinter Carlynn Arthur (Danville) won the event in a time of 1:49.73.

Sophomore thrower Brooke Buckhannon (Collins/Western Reserve) and sophomore All-OAC thrower Jillian Roberts (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) went fourth and fifth in the shot put with tosses of 40'11"and 40'4", respectively. In the weight throw, Roberts took third with 47'7.75" mark while freshman thrower Carol Foster (Diamond/Southeast) came in fourth, tossing a career-best 46'9.5". Foster's mark was actually the top mark after the first two throws.  

In the jumping events, freshmen Heather Orr (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) and Stephanie Magvas (Westlake/Magnificat) took sixth and seventh, respectively, in the high jump as each cleared a mark of 4'9.5". Meanwhile, freshman Abby Lewicki (Medina/Highland) placed sixth in the pole vault after hitting a 10'1.25" mark. Junior Jessica Edwards (North Versailles, Pa./East Allegheny) took sixth in the triple jump by leaping 32'10.5".

BW will be back in action on Friday, February 23, on the first day of the two-day OAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Capital University inside the Capital Center.
