ADA, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's 4x800-meter relay team of freshman Madison Kile (North Canton/Hoover), sophomore Katie Fowler (Mount Vernon), freshman Rebecca Penrose (Springfield/Shawnee) and sophomore All-OAC performer Kelly Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) won the Ohio Athletic Conference title to lead the Yellow Jackets to fourth place after the first day of competition of the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Ohio Northern University inside Kerscher Stadium.
The top three individuals and the top three relay teams are recognized as All-Ohio Athletic Conference.
BW is fourth of 10 teams after the first day with 29 points. Ohio Northern leads the championships with 66 points.
The Yellow Jackets were led by freshman distance runner Hastings Marek (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial) as she earned her first All-OAC accolade when she finished third in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a career-best time of 11:16.65.
In addition, sophomore thrower Brooke Buckhannon (Collins/Western Reserve) placed fourth in the discus with a mark of 127 feet and 10 inches. Sophomore distance runner Bella Pendola (Warsaw/River View) finished fourth in the 10,000-meter run in a time of 39:10.40. Senior thrower Madison Phillips (Norwalk/St. Paul) finished sixth in the javelin with a throw of 103'2".
In relay action, the 4x800-meter team won the title in a time of 9:20.21.
BW concludes the OAC Championships on Saturday, April 28. Field events begin at 10:00 a.m. with running events slated to begin at 2:30 p.m.
