Women's Indoor Track and Field Captures Inaugural Taraschke Classic

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's indoor track and field teams won the first ever Dr. William Taraschke Classic on the Harrison Dillard Track inside the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse.

BW finished first of six teams with 195 points.

The Yellow Jackets were led by, senior All-American jumper Erin Kasper (Amherst / Marion Steele), senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference thrower Kasey Clouse (Norwalk/Western Reserve), sophomore distance runner Kelly Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) and senior hurdler Lyndsey Armstrong (Ashtabula / Geneva) as they each won multiple events. Kasper (Amherst / Marion Steele) finished in first in the high jump and triple jump with season-best marks. Kasper won the high jump with a leap of 5'5'' and the triple jump with a mark of 33'9.25''. Kasper also finished second in the long jump with a season-best mark of 16'8.75''. Clouse won the shot put and weight throw events. Clouse had a career-best throw of 43 feet three inches in the shot put and a 49'9.25'' mark in the weight throw.  Brennan won the 800-meter run with a career-best time of 2:23.65 and the 3,000-meter run with a time of career-best time of 10:47.49. Armstrong won the 55-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 8.73 seconds and was a member of the winning 4x200 meter team.

In addition, sophomore sprinter Grace Nemeth (Medina) won the 200-meter dash with a season-best finish of 26.85 seconds. Freshman Bella Pendola (Warsaw/River View) finished second in the mile and in the 1,000-meter run. Pendola recorded career-best times of 5:27.74 in the mile and 3:09.86 in the 1,000-meter. Freshman thrower Madeline Ziccardi (Cuyahoga Falls) earned a second place finish in the shot put with a career-best throw of 39'7.75''.

In relay action, the 4x200-meter team of Armstrong, Nemeth, freshman Beth Plas (LaGrange / Keystone) and freshman Annie Quisno (Port Clinton / Oak Harbor) won with a season-best time of 1:54.30.

BW is back in action on Friday and Saturday February 3 and 4 when it travels to Hillsdale, Michigan for the Hillsdale (Mich.) College Wide Track Classic in the Margot V. Biermann Athletic Center.
