Women's Indoor Track and Field Performs at Raider Tune Up

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's indoor track and field team competed at the Raider Tune Up hosted by the University of Mount Union inside the McPhearson Academic and Athletic Complex.

The Yellow Jackets were led by freshman thrower Jillian Roberts (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) and freshman distance runner Kelly Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) as they each won their respective events. Roberts won the shot put with a career-best throw of 42 feet 0.5 inches. Brennan won the 800-meter run with a career-best finish of 2:19.27.

Along with Roberts in the shot put, senior All-OAC thrower Kasey Clouse (Norwalk/Western Reserve) finished second with a mark of 41'10''. Clouse also placed second and freshman thrower Brooke Buckhannon (Collins/Western Reserve) finished seventh in the weight throw. Clouse recorded a throw of 51'11.25'' and Buckhannon had a career-best mark of 45'9.75''. In the high jump senior All-American Erin Kasper (Amherst/Marion Steele) finished second and recorded a leap of 16'10.5''.

In the other running events, freshman distance runner Claire Makowski (Bethel Park, Pa.) finished fourth in the 5,000-meter run with a career-best time of 20:13.21. In the 200-meter dash sophomore sprinter Grace Nemeth (Medina) finished fifth and senior sprinter Lyndsey Armstrong (Ashtabula/Geneva) placed seventh. Nemeth finished in a time of 26.7 seconds and Armstrong finished in a career-best time of 27.48 seconds. Nemeth also earned a fifth place finish in the 60-meter dash with a career-best time of 8.15 seconds.

BW is back in action on Friday and Saturday February 24 and 25 when it hosts the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships on the Harrison Dillard Track inside the Lou Higgins Center. Action begin on Friday at 1:30 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m. For more information go to http://bit.ly/2lZeY9L
