BEREA, Ohio- The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team extended their winning streak to three games with a 4-0 victory over Waynesburg University (Pa.).

After both teams battled between the 30s, BW got on the board in the fifth minute after sophomore midfielder Kaitlin McGuire (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) was able to find sophomore midfielder Alex Guido (Macomb, Mich./Eisenhower), who quickly one touched a pass to senior three-time All-Ohio Athletic conference and Academic All-OAC forward Rachel Bender (Massillon/Jackson). Bender found the back of the net for her third goal of the season to give BW an early 1-0 lead.

Baldwin Wallace continued to play aggressively on both sides of the ball, attempting seven shots compared to Waynesburg's one shot. Waynesburg was unable to penetrate the BW backline for the majority of the first half.

BW pushed its lead to 2-0 in the 28th minute after freshman forward Michelina Rush (North Hampton, Pa./Norwin) pushed a long cross from right to left to find Bender, who rifled a shot into the back of the net.

At the conclusion of the first half, BW put 12 of their 17 shots on goal and only allowed Waynesburg to get off three total shots.

In the second half saw the game being played back and forth with no real scoring opportunities presented for either side.

In the 86th minute, BW was able to break the scoreless theme in the second half after Bender found junior midfielder Claire Cuthbertson (Berlin Heights/Edison) for her first career goal.

Just two minutes later, Cuthbertson again found the back of the net off an assist from freshman forward Margaux Duvall (Avon Lake), who tallied her first career point.

BW will be back in action when they travel to Grove City College (Pa.) for their last non-conference matchup of the season on Tuesday, September 25. The contest is slated for a 4 p.m. start.
