Ten Women's Soccer Student-Athletes Selected to Academic All-OAC Team

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Ten Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer student-athletes have landed on the 2018 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.

In order to be selected to the Academic All-OAC team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA. 

Senior four-time All-OAC forward Rachel Bender (Massillon/Jackson), senior defender Bri Osborne (Cincinnati/Batavia), junior goalkeeper Sophia Weidner (Medina), junior goalkeeper Emma Bruno (Pittsburgh, Pa./Bethel Park), junior midfielder Claire Cuthbertson (Berlin Heights/Edison), sophomore defender Josie Fenn (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area), sophomore All-OAC midfielder Kayla Webb (Brunswick), sophomore midfielder Kaitlin McGuire (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland), sophomore forward Kasi Didion (Sandusky/Perkins) and sophomore forward Kortney Marzenski (Parma/Valley Forge) are 10 of 54 Yellow Jacket student-athletes to be recognized this fall.

Bender, who earns her third consecutive Academic All-OAC honor, is a communications sciences and disorders major who carries a 3.94 GPA. Academically, she is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar, a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society, a two-time Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association (OCSA) Academic All-Ohio selection and a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American. On the field, Bender is a four-time All-OAC selection, a two-time All-Great Lakes Region selection, three-time OCSA All-Ohio selection and the reigning OAC Forward of the Year. For her career, she appeared in 83 games and recorded 60 goals and a school-record 37 assists for 157 points.

Osborne, who garners her third straight Academic All-OAC accolade, is a criminal justice major who carries a 3.59 GPA. She is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society. For her career, Osborne appeared in 68 games on the back line. 

Weidner, who is named to her second career Academic All-OAC team, is a mathematics major who carries a 3.95 GPA. A Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar, Weidner received the 2017 BW Academic Excellence Award for women's soccer by having the highest GPA on the team. In her career, she has appeared in 29 games and has recorded 12 wins, five shutouts and a 1.59 goals against average.

Bruno, who earns her second consecutive Academic All-OAC honor, is a marketing major who carries a 3.78 GPA. Academically, she is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar, a member of the Honors Program and a member of the Digital Marketing Clinic. For her career, Bruno has appeared in 37 games and has recorded 22 wins, 12 shutouts and a 1.30 goals against average.

Cuthbertson, who garners her first career Academic All-OAC accolade, is a communications sciences and disorders major who carries a 3.54 GPA. A Dean's List student, she received the BW Miranda Bennett Players' Player award after missing the entirety of last season due to injury. In her career, Cuthbertson has appeared in 28 games and has recorded two goals and one assist for five points. 

Fenn, who is named to her first Academic All-OAC team, is a pre-physical therapy major who carries a perfect 4.0 GPA. A Dean's List student, Fenn has appeared in 28 games in her two-year career as a member of the defense.

Webb, who earns her first Academic All-OAC honor, is an early childhood education major who carries a 3.94 GPA. She is a Dean's List student off the field and an All-OAC selection on the field. For her career, Webb has appeared in 38 games and has scored seven goals for 14 points.

McGuire, who garners her first Academic All-OAC accolade, is a communications sciences and disorders major who carries a 3.94 GPA. Academically, she is a Dean's List student. In her career, McGuire has appeared in 34 games and has scored three goals for six points. 

Didion, who is named to her first Academic All-OAC team, is an early childhood education major who carries a 3.74 GPA. A Dean's List student, Didion has appeared in 18 games in her two-year career.

Marzenski, who earns her first career Academic All-OAC honor, is an early childhood education major who carries a 3.59 GPA. She is a Dean's List student. For her career, Marzenski has appeared in 22 games and recorded two goals for four points.
