Bender Named OAC Offensive Player of the Week

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – For the third time in her career, Baldwin Wallace University senior three-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC forward Rachel Bender (Massillon/Jackson) has been named the OAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.

Bender led the Yellow Jackets to a perfect 2-0 week with wins over Heidelberg University and Muskingum University. She was responsible for four goals and four assists on 18 shots, totaling 12 points for the week.

In Wednesday's 3-1 win over Heidelberg, the reigning OAC Co-Forward of the Year was involved in all three of BW's goals with one score and two assists. Bender backed up that performance by notching her fifth career hat trick and adding two more assists against Muskingum to tie her single-game point record with eight.

Bender leads the Yellow Jackets and the OAC in shots (104), points (34) and assists (10) while tying for second in the conference in goals (12).

For her career, Bender has appeared in 78 games and recorded 58 goals, 31 assists and 147 points, including 18 game-winning goals. She currently ranks second in all-time school history in scoring.

BW will be back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 17, when the Yellow Jackets host OAC and crosstown rival John Carroll University at 7 p.m. inside George Finnie Stadium.
