Edwards Earns OAC Player of the Week Honor Following Career Night

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball junior forward Lilly Edwards (Dublin/Coffman) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week. The award marks the first such honor of her career.

Edwards became the second Yellow Jackets women's basketball player to win the honor this season, following senior Gabby Garrett (Columbus/Bishop Watterson)'s win on January 25th. Edwards helped lead the Yellow Jackets to two wins in a home-and-home series against Capital University, pushing BW into second place in the OAC.

Edwards tallied a combined 39 points in the home-and-home series sweep against Capital, including a career-high 26 points and 10 rebounds in the finale. Edwards notched her tenth career-double in the finale and owns the only two games of 10 or more field goals by a BW player this season.

Edwards has put together a sparkling career with two All-OAC selections in her first two seasons (Second Team in 2018-19 and Honorable Mention in 2019-20), as well as a 2018-19 Freshman of the Year award. She remains the only player in the OAC to rank in the top five in both points per game (17.9) and rebounds per game (9.6) ranking second in both categories this season.

The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Friday, February 19, beginning a home-and-home series against Heidelberg University. The Yellow Jackets will tip off the front end of the home-and-home series in Springfield, Ohio at 7:00 p.m.
