MARIETTA, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University's women's basketball team had their 17-game winning streak snapped, as they fell to Marietta College 67-61 on Saturday night, on the back end of their home-and-home series.

The game marks the first loss for the Yellow Jackets (3-1, 3-1 OAC) and ends the four-game winning streak the team had against the Pioneers (2-2, 2-2 OAC). Following the loss, the Yellow Jackets are 57-20 overall against the Pioneers.

Junior Lilly Edwards (Dublin/Coffman) nearly matched her output from the night before, tying her career-high with 25 points and recording 12 rebounds, one shy of her Friday night total. Sophomore Izzy Andrews (Ann Arbor, Mich./Rudolf Steiner) delivered a career night as well, setting personal highs in points (14) and rebounds (four), while shooting six-for-seven from the floor. Erin Hahn and Bailee Brooks combined to score 32 points for the Pioneers.

Contrary to the night before, the Yellow Jackets jumped out to an early lead, off the backs of strong showings by Andrews and Edwards. An Andrews layup with 1:18 to go in the first gave the Yellow Jackets a 10-point advantage, but the Pioneers found some momentum to close the quarter and BW took just a 20-14 lead into the second.

While the offense sputtered in the second quarter, the effort did not, as the Yellow Jackets and Pioneers traded blows throughout the remainder of the half. Marietta earned a slight edge in the second quarter, outscoring BW 12-11. Andrews remained on a hot streak, adding five more points to her total.

Marietta was able to find its rhythm in the third, outscoring the Yellow Jackets 21-9. The Yellow Jackets managed just one field goal in the quarter, shooting only 8.3% from the field, but added seven free throws to keep the game close.

Like a rocket, the Yellow Jackets flew out of the gate, starting the fourth quarter on an 11-2 run. Sophomore Regan Schill (Sheffield/Elyria Catholic) started the run with a three-pointer that got the Yellow Jackets back in the game. After exchanging the lead several times, Marietta lead 61-60 with 24 seconds to play. Senior Gabby Garrett (Columbus/Bishop Watterson) tied the game on a free throw, but Marietta answered at the free throw line themselves and the Pioneers held on to win the game.

The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Friday, February 5 and begin a home-and-home series against John Carroll University. The Yellow Jackets will tip off against the Blue Streaks at 7:00 p.m. in Ursprung Gymnasium.
