BEREA, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball team has been picked to finish second in the Ohio Athletic Conference Coaches Preseason Poll.

BW, who was picked third a season ago, was selected second of 10 teams with 74 points and three first place votes. The Yellow Jackets only trailed defending OAC regular season champion Ohio Northern University in first place with 79 points and seven first place votes.  Wilmington College was third with 57 points. John Carroll University was slated fourth with 45 points while Capital University and Otterbein University tied for fifth with 44 points.

"It's always an honor to be given respect from the OAC coaches in the pre-season," stated veteran head coach Cheri Harrer.  "But of course it's just a poll and the games will determine the final standings.  Our goal is to get better every day, stick to our core values and let the outcome take care of itself."

Harrer, who has a career record of 527-197 in 26 season at BW, returns 11 letterwinners and four starters from last year's squad that posted an overall record of 17-11 and a fourth place finish in the OAC with a mark of 11-7.   The Yellow Jackets advanced to the OAC Tournament Championship for the second straight season.

BW opens the 2016-17 campaign on Tuesday, November 15 when it hosts a non-conference game against Oberlin College in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center at 7:30 p.m.  The Yellow Jackets open OAC play against the Marietta College on December 3 in Marietta.
