GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Baldwin Wallace University softball team dropped a 7-6 single non-conference game against the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg on the Pitt-Greensburg Softball Field.

BW (10-21) and Pitt-Greensburg (10-13) were scheduled to play a doubleheader but field conditions and impending darkness forced the teams to play just the one game.

The Bobcats opened the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the third.  The Yellow Jackets took the lead with two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth.  Pitt-Greensburg scored another run in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at 3-3.  BW answered back with three runs in the top of the sixth to take a 6-3 lead.   The Bobcats won the game with four runs in the bottom of the sixth.

The Yellow Jacket offense scored six runs on seven hits and was led by freshman shortstop Alicia Hack (Pickerington/North) with three hits as she went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and a run batted-in (RBI).

In addition, senior All-Ohio Athletic and Academic All-OAC second baseman Brittany Lightel (Tallmadge), sophomore designated player Alex Miller (Akron/Coventry), sophomore pitcher Samantha Dostall (Oberlin/Firelands) and freshman catcher Tori Young (Tallmadge) all had a base knock.  Lightel had the Yellow Jackets lone extra base hit with a double while Dostall had 2 RBIs and Miller had one RBI and two stolen bases.

In the circle, two BW pitchers allowed seven runs (six earned) on nine hits with eight strikeouts and seven walks.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, April 18 when they host an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader against the University of Mount Union on the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds Field at 3 p.m.
